FOR THE LOVE OF A PET
People that own a pet know how much care and attention a pet requires. Pets need to be acknowledged and praised the same as a person. Their needs are just as important as the husband, the child or the baby in the family. The pets in some case are the extended part of the family and are treated and spoiled just as much. They depend on their owner for much of their needs and their love is unconditional. They know they are special by how much attention and care is lavished on them. This perhaps is why they look up to their pet owners with such happiness, joy and why they are always glad to see their owners.
Pets do become a family member and fill the gap of needs that are perhaps missing in the relationship or in a person’s life. They give back unconditional love and attention regardless of what stage of life a person is in. Pets seem to always be there for the pet owner. They don’t judge decisions or actions the pet owner makes but perhaps add support that they are there for their owner. They also surprise the owners with what they are capable of doing and what they will do in a time of crises for their owner.
The loss of this unconditional love from a pet is devastating for pet owners. They not only have lost their best friend but their faithful companion and a great part of their life. This is a large gap to fill because that pet filled a large area that was missing or needed in that person’s life. The loss of a pet is like loosing a close relative you have lived with for a long time, knowing each others habits and routines, building a close relationship. Someone in the stages in the grief process dealing with pet loss death has a harder time being able to acknowledge their pet and close friend is really gone. It is this pet loss death that really can depress someone in the stages in the grief process as they experience each step.
The memories and good times are built over time where the pets make a person laugh with their actions. The loss of a pet is one of the most trying experiences anyone who is a pet owner can go through. It is worse for someone who lives alone and has nobody close to talk to while they go through this rough time of their life. This is when friends and relatives should step in and help the pet owner get through this emotional time. Pet owners should not go through this alone without help and support as they go through the many stages in the grief process dealing with the pet loss death.
People who are trying to give emotional support to the pet owner should never say they know what that person is going through because everyone’s reaction and feelings are different from each others. Everyone feels different so they cannot say they know what the pet owner is going through because all stages in the grief process affect each of us different and only those dealing with pet death loss can first hand talke about thier own experience. The best thing anyone can do for the pet owner is be there to offer emotional support, hugs or just be around after a time when other friends and relatives have moved on. This is when a pet owner really needs the support more than anything. The gap of the pet is felt worse then. There is empty spaces to fill emotionally as well as mentally.
This is all for the love of a pet simply because they are our life line when things get tough our pet is always there for us and hopefully for the love of our pet we can always be there for them as well.
